Venue Seating

Modular Seating C-Value

  • C-Value (or Clarity Value) is a term used in the context of viewing sightlines in stadiums, arenas, and other performance venues. It refers to a measurement or calculation that helps determine how clear and unobstructed the view is for spectators from various seating positions.

There are several aspects that compose and effect a venue’s C-Value.

    • Seating Position: The closer and more centered the seating is to the action (e.g., the stage or playing field), the higher the C-Value.
      • Angle of View: An optimal viewing angle allows spectators to see the entire performance or game without turning their heads excessively. Steep or poorly angled seats may lower the C-Value.
      • Obstructions: Any architectural elements that block or limit the sightline—like beams, balconies, or screens—can negatively impact the C-Value.
      • Elevation: Higher seating levels may provide better sightlines, especially in larger venues, but if the elevation is too steep, it may create a less comfortable viewing angle.
